Holograph, signed
Amos Farnsworth called on Mrs. Nathan Brooks in Concord in the interest of the anti-slavery fair to be held in Lowell, and he found her "in the right frame of mind." He tells about his efforts to secure a hall for the fair in Lowell. The committee for Mechanics Hall declined their request to rent the hall. Farnsworth mentioned to Dr. Huntington (the mayor) that he has engaged City Hall for certain days. Mrs. Jesse Fox has promised to help. But the Lowell Female Anti-Slavery Society "is dead in form as well as in fact. O. Scott is about to form a new one, & attach it to the disorganization." Some opposition to the fair may be expected by the shopkeepers in Lowell
